Press club “An identity of the border regions: experience of Bukovyna’s tolerance” took place in Chernivtsi

The Bukovynian center of electoral technologies (BCET) initiated the meeting of reform press club “An identity of the border regions: experience of Bukovyna’s tolerance” on September 13th.
The manager of the project, which is realizing in the framework of “Civil Society Impact Enhancement Program” initiated by International Renaissance Foundation Igor Havrada, BCET director Igor Babyuk, president of Ukrainian National House in Chernivtsi Volodymyr Staryk and the administrator of web-site “The tolerant Bukovyna” Taras Khalavka talked with local mass-media journalists.
Our land is a border region with representatives of more than 80 nationalities among its population. That is why the project is important and actual. Igor Havrada noticed that the main goal of the project is the increasing of professional responsibility of mass-media journalists in the interpretation of ethnotraditional problematic, public understanding of different ethnic traditions, culture and psychological specifics, spreading information about international practice in providing tolerance, the dialog between national and cultural societies in Bukovyna. Volodymyr Staryk made a historical review about ethnic relations in our region and noticed that project activity includes studying and popularization Bukovyna tolerance traditions by estimation of its level, creation of informational and analytical broadcastings.
Taras Khalavka presented the work of Internet-resource “The tolerant Bukovyna” to participants of the meeting. It was initiated by public organizations and with support of the Department of internal policy of Chernivtsi Regional State Administration. He informed that the main goal of web-resource is to inform the foreign internet-users about providing of national minorities rights to education, culture and information and to represent the ethnopolitical processes in a triangle Moldova-Romania-Ukraine, especially in Bukovyna and Bessarabia.
