On June 29, 2010 in Chisinau took place the official ceremony of signing of the Protocol between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova concerning the collaboration in the area of education during the 2010-2011, 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 studying years. From Ukrainian side the protocol had been signed by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova Serghii Pyrozhkov and from Moldovan side – the Minister of Education of RM Leonid Bujor.

In accordance with the signed Protocol Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova would offer each year for the Ukrainian and respectively Moldovan citizens 105 students’ scholarships and 3 post-graduate and doctorate scholarships. All the Moldovan citizens who know at a respective level the Ukrainian language would have the possibility to study for free at the Ukrainian universities in Kyiv, Odesa, Harkiv, Lviv etc.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova Serghii Pyrozhkov underlined that the signing of the Protocol between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova would help to satisfy the educational needs of the representatives of the Ukrainian ethnical minority in Moldova and Moldovan in Ukraine. From since now every candidate knowing the official language of the respective country would have the possibility to study at the university in Ukraine or Moldova.

In accordance with the signed Protocol the Parties would facilitate the functioning of the schools and universities of both countries where the language of the respective national minority was taught. As it was underlined by Serghii Pyrozhkov a special importance had the reached agreement concerning the improvement of the qualification of Ukrainian and Moldovan language teachers in Moldova and respectively in Ukraine.
